How do you handle days when you just don't want to eat anything.

I had a protien shake for breakfast, but just kept going through lunch. Ate something about 4:00 that just didn't agree with me (it was too dense and made me throw up). Now I'm sitting here at 7:30 at night debating on trying something else to eat, having another protien shake or just doing nothing.

It's not even that I'm craving bad stuff, just no stuff at all.

So help me out here and let me know what you would do.

*fyi - I'm almost 5 months out and this has happened a few times. I still drink a protien shake every morning for breakfast. I can't eat anything first thing in the morning. My little pouch doesn't like it.

I still have problems some days when I don't want to eat at all...the thought of food makes me want to throw up...To me even though it's a liquid protein and it won't sustain you, at least you are getting your protein. There is this stuff called Unjur (I think that's how it's spelled) it is powder protein, they have different flavors and unflavored. If I know that I might not have gotten enough protein, I put this powder in with a soup I might have...it will give me the protein, and some days I am lucky to be able to handle soup..I am 1 yr out and still find something hard on my little stomach...hope that helps...if all else fells contact joanne and ask her some questions

I can't help much. I've never had that blessing.

I agree with what has been said. I also drink a protein shake in the morning. It seems there are a log of days when I eat cottage cheese & fruit. I do try to eat 3 times a day even if it is just a little. Like you said I am also 5 months out from my surgery and some days I just don't feel like eating. I have not gotten sick to stomach for a while so maybe that has passed.

This is Laura, sorry it took so long to get back to you.
It is common for a lot of people to loss their appetite after surgery, A lot of times it won't last. Their will be alot of food that you won't be able to eat after surgery. You still need to eat 3 meals though. In the morning try drinking some warm water or herbal tea (no caffeine) when you get up in the morning. You could be frothing which will make you nauseated and vomit. The warm fluid will thin out the mucus and help it pass on through. If you need to set an alarm to remind you to eat that is OK also, some people do that to help them remember to eat especially if your busy. Be creative with your meals, spices, do what ever to make it look good during this time. If you start bad eating habits now they are harder to break later. Definitely call and talk to Joanne also. Hope this helps a little.
